ExBio Launches a New Food Waste Digester for House Use Under the Brand Name ‘HIFOS’.

September 9, 2020ExBio’s 16 years of experience and know-how are now not only used in commercial application but also in household application.ExBio’s new home food waste digester was successfully launched through Hyundai Home Shopping Channel, one of the top home shopping channels in Korea. The live broadcasting home shopping TV show was aired on September 1st between 12:40PM and 1:40PM Korea time and it was a big hit among consumers in Korea. Anybody who has an experience of taking garbage out in Korea would understand how difficult it is especially when it comes to food waste. You place the food waste into a plastic bag, carry it down to the hallway of your apartment complex and then take the elevator to get to the garbage collection site outside through the first floor, hoping that any food waste liquid from the bag will not drip, making the floor mess. The worst scenario is when you encounter your neighbor in the elevator with that food waste bag in your hand, you feel embarrassed somehow and it feels like the elevator takes forever to reach the first floor. Now, all that problem is solved. You can simply take care of your food waste inside of your house with ExBio’s food waste digester. With ExBio’s special aerobic food digestion process, the home food waste can be processed up to 1.5 kg per day. Therefore, you don’t need to take the food waste garbage outside anymore. It is not a grinder, which is prohibited in Korea for clogging the drain. It is a microorganism digesting process which is all natural and eco-friendly. Years of research and development now shines and hoping this will benefit many individuals.  You can fine more details on the website of Hyundai Home Shopping online site as below

Choosing a Commercial Food Waste Digester

EXBIO has worked exclusively on microbial fermentation food waste digesters for 14 years, since 2012. For restaurants, catering facilities, hotels, hospitals and factory canteens that produce a steady volume of food waste every day, our commercial range handles anything from 10kg to 10 tons per day.

Development and export

In 2015 we developed the world's first 3-ton fermentation digester and exported it to Japan, followed by a 5-ton model supplied to China in 2018. The commercial range now extends to the EX-10000, the largest in the industry, with the top model processing 10 tons per day, alongside 20-ton modular plants built for local authorities and industrial sites.

Our machines are exported to more than 20 countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, China and Germany, with over 1,000 units supplied to date. All models obtained CE European safety certification in 2017, and in 2019 the company received the Export Tower award from the Korea International Trade Association. The countries we serve are listed on our global network page.

How do you choose a commercial model?

  1. Match capacity to daily volume

The model number is the daily capacity. The EX-50 processes 50kg a day, the EX-1000 one ton, and the EX-10000 ten tons. It is safer to allow some headroom above your actual volume. The full range is set out on the commercial food waste digester page.

  2. Check space and power supply

Confirm the footprint of the installation area and the position of the water supply and drain. Smaller models run on single-phase 220V while larger ones require three-phase 380V. Indoor and outdoor installations differ, as do sites with and without ventilation, so a floor plan or site photographs will speed up the assessment.

  3. Review installations and request a quote

Projects of a similar scale can be found in our installation records. Send us your daily waste volume, installation location and preferred timeline through the product inquiry form and we will recommend a suitable model.

Frequently asked questions

Is separate construction work required for installation?

It depends on the model and the site. Smaller machines can often be installed wherever power and drainage are available, while larger-capacity models may require floor reinforcement, supply and drain piping, and a ventilation route.

How often do the microorganisms need replenishing?

Under normal operation the microorganisms in the fermentation chamber reproduce on their own. Sustained heavy loading, or the repeated entry of detergents and foreign matter, can reduce their activity and call for replenishment.

What if daily volume exceeds 10 tons?

Ten tons per day is the maximum for a single machine. Beyond that, either install several units or consider a large-capacity food waste plant, which can be configured in modules up to 20 tons.
